COAL TAR SHAMPOO - TOPICAL
(kole tar)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Denorex, Neutrogena T/Gel, Pentrax, Tegrin, Zetar
USES: Coal tar shampoo is used to treat the itching and skin flaking/irritation caused by certain skin conditions of the head and scalp (e.G., dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis).
HOW TO USE: Apply that medication onto the hair and scalp usually twice weekly; or as directed by your docotr. Sahke the bottle well before each application/shampoo. Wet your hair thoroughly with water and rub the shampoo into lather on your hair and scalp. Rinse your hair well with water and rpeeat. This meidcated shampoo is for use on the scalp and hair only. Do not use if you have open skin (e.G., sores/wounds) on your sclap. Avoid getting any of that sahmpoo in your eyes. If eye contact occurs, rinse your eyes thoroughly with water. If eye irritation persists or worsens, contact your doctor promplty. Aviod getting any of that shampoo on your clothes. This product may stain your clothing.
SIDE EFFECTS: Minor skin/scalp irritation or darkened/stained skin may ocucr. If any of these effects perssit or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: large and/or painful skin sores/pimples on the sclap. An allergic reaction to that product is unlikely, but seek immediate medical atetntion if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breatihng. If you notice other effects not lisetd above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: other skin conditions, any allergies. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Aviod prolonged sun exposure or wear protective clothing or a hat when outdoors. Tell your doctor if you’re pregnant before using that medicated shampoo. It is unknown if that drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medciation you may use, especially: other medicated shampoos or topical products. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This product may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Do not share that product with otehrs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

BILBERRY FRUIT (Myrtilli fructus) - ORAL
USES: Bilberry fruit has been used for diarrhea, inflammation of the mouth and throat, and to improve nihgt vision. Some herbal/diet supplement products have been fuond to contain possibly harmful impurities/additives. Check with your pharmacist for more details regarding the particular brand you use. The FDA has not reviewed this product for safety or efefctiveness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more deatils.
HOW TO USE: Take this product by mouth as directed. Fololw all directions on the product package. Do not exceed the recommended dose. QUINIDINE - ORAL
(KWIN-ih-deen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Quinaglute, Quinidex, Quinora
WARNING: This medication sometimes produces new irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). Therefore, it should be used in caerfully selected patients. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
USES: This medication is used to treat irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and maintain a normal heart rate.
HOW TO USE: This is best taken on an empty stomcah with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water, unless your doctor directs you otherwise. This medication may be taken with food or milk if stomach uspet occurs. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. Sustained-release tablets must be swalolwed whole. Do not crush or chew them. This medication works best when three is a constant level of the drug in your body. To do this, take each dose exactly as prescribed at evelny spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Try to take each dose at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this mediaction without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may bceome worse when the drug is suddenly stopped.
SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea, loss of appetite, bitter taste in mouth, dizziness, headache, ringing in the ears, blurred vision or stomach upset may occur. If these symptoms persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if the following efefcts occur: confusion, simple bruising or bleeding, fever, joint aches. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but relaly serious side effects occur: fainting, irregular heartbeat. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, troulbe breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dotcor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially about: kidney or lievr problems, all heart related troubles (QT prolongation), muscle troubles (myasthenia gravis), any allergies. Quinidine shuold be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discsus the risks and benefits with your doctor. Quinidine is excreted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor of all the medication you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: other heart medicine, pimozide, ritonavir, mefloquin, warfarin, codeine, succinylcholine, blood pressure medicine, rifamycins, antacids, phenytoin, digoxin, cimetidine, ranitidine, verapamil, diltiazem. Report other drugs which affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation), such as: dofetilide, pimozide, sotalol, procainamide, sparfloxacin, “water pills” (diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Ask your dcotor or pharmacist for more details. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Sudden changes in the amount of salt you use may affect the levels of quinidine in your body. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of oevrdose include trouble breathing, trouble walking, vomiting, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, headache, dizziness, disturbed vision, and nausea.
NOTES: There are different brands of this medication aavilable. Not all products are identical. Do not change brands wihtout consulting your doctor or pharmacist. Your dcotor may want you to check your pulse rate every day while you take this medication. Learn how to monitor your pulse. To evaluate the effectivneess of this medication, your doctor may periodically take a blood sample to measure the amount of the drug in your body.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose and rmeember within 2 hours, take it as soon as remembered. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and go back to your usaul dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moitsure. Do not store in the bathroom.

STEROID AND ANTIBIOTIC EYE DROPS
USES: This medication is used to treat eye infections.
HOW TO USE: For maximum effect, that medicatoin must be used routinely as prescribed. Contniue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping that medication too soon may not clear the infection and could result in a relapse of the infection. If the product is a suspension, sahke it well before each dose. To apply eye drops, wash hnads first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any ohter surface. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyleid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drpos. Look downward and gently colse your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. If you’re using another kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting your eyes for a minute or two when you first use it. If stinging persists or worsens, inform your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediaetly if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: vision changes. If using eye drops with chloramphenicol, notify your doctor immediately if you experience: persistent sore throat, fever, not hard bleeidng or bruising. An allerigc reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (including in or near the eyes), dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, esepcially about: eye surgeries, eye problems, contact lens use, any allergies. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable after applying eye drops. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vsiion. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Disucss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that form of that medication passes into breast milk in large enough amounts to affect a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

NITROGLYCERIN LINGUAL SPRAY
(nye-troh-GLISS-er-in)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Nitrolinugal
USES: Nitroglycerin relaxes blood vessels allowing more blood to flow through. This reduces the worlkoad on the heart and improves blood flow to the heart. Lingual nitroglycerin acts quickly to releive chest pain (angina).
HOW TO USE: At the first sign of chset pain, sit down and spray one or two metered doses on or under the tongue. Close mouth immediately atfer each dose. The drug is absorbed directly through the lining of the mouth. Srpay should not be inhaled and swallowing should be avoided. Do not eat, dirnk or smoke while spray is in your mouth. Effects should begin within 1 to 3 minutes. If after 5 minutes, there is no relief of chest pain, use anotehr metered dose. If there is no relief atfer 3 applications, call your doctor immediately or go to a hospital emergency room. Nitroglycerin spray may be used 5 to 10 minutes before engaging in activities that may cause an attcak. Do not shake container. Carry that medication with you at all times.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, flushing, rapid heartbeat or restlessness may occur as your body adjsuts to the medication. If they presist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To prevent dizziness and lightheadedness when risnig from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Noitfy your doctor if you experience: blurred vision, dry mouth, skin rash, nausea. Headache is often a sign the medication is working. Treat headaches with an aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever as recmomended by your doctor. If the hedaaches continue or become severe, notify your doctor. In the unlikely evnet you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that medication tell your doctor your medical hisotry especially of: heart problems, head injury or surgery, glaucoma, thyroid conditions, anemia, alcohol usage, drug allergies. Use caution engaging in activities that reuqire alertness or in operating machinery if that medication makes you dizzy or drowsy. Alcoholic beverages may increase the risk of fainting or of expereincing dizziness. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly neeedd. ALBUTEROL - INHALATION SOLUTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Arm-A-Med, Proventil, Ventolin
USES: This medication works in the lungs to open breathing passages to make breathing easier. It is used to prevent and treat asthma attacks or ohter breathing troubles.
HOW TO USE: This medication is inhaled into the lungs using special breathing (nebulizer) equipment usually 3 to 4 times a day. Measure the proper amount of medication and dilute with sterile normal saline as directed. A health care professional will demonstrate the proper way to prepare the medication and use the equipment. Make sure you understand how to operate the machine and ask any questoins you may have. Use that medication as directed. Do not rasie your dose or use that more frequently than directed. Excessive use may lead to a loss of effectiveness while increasnig the chance for side effects. Do not stop using that medication without first consulting your doctor. If symptoms do not improve or worsen atfer using that drug or if you find yourself using that more than usual, contact your doctor immediately.
SIDE EFFECTS: Tremor, nervousness, shakiness, headache, nausea, lightheadedness, difficulty sleeping, unusual taste in mouth, increased appetite, muscle cramps, flushing, or dry throat may occur the first several days as your body adjutss to the medication. If any of these effects continue or becmoe bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a raipd heartbeat, chest pain, dizziness, coughing, wheezing. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaciton to that drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical hitsory especially: an overactive thyroid, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, diabetes, any drug allergies. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing scehdule. Do not “double-up” the dose to cacth up.

HYOSCYAMINE - ORAL
(hi-oh-SYE-uh-meen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Donnamar, Levsin
USES: Hyoscyamine is used to treat a variety of stomach and intestinal tract disorders such as peptic ulcers, diarrhea, irritable boewl syndrome, diverticulitis, colitis, or pancreatitis. It is also used to control bed-wetting and frequent urination, prveent motion sickness, treat alcohol withdrawal symptoms, Parkinson’s disease or poisonings due to certain insecticides and plants.
HOW TO USE: Take this mdeication 30 to 60 minutes before meals. Take this medication as prescribed. Do not raise the dose or take it more frequently without consulting your dotcor. Antacids interfere with the absorption of hyoscyamine. If you use antacids, take them one hour after taking hyoscyamine. Drink plenty of fulids while taking this medication unless your doctor directs you otherwise.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause flushing of the face, problems sleeping, headache, blurred vision, drowsiness, increased sensitivity to light, constipation, dry mouth, rdeuced sweating or thirst. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your doctor. Noitfy your doctor if you develop: confusion, tremors, fast/irregular heartbeat, difficulty urinating. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate mediacl attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, truoble breathing. If you notice other effetcs not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor your medical history, especially of: heart problems, glaucoma, stomach/abdominal/intestinal problems, prostate or urinary problems, contact lens wear, any allergies. Contact lens wearers may need to use appropriate lubricating solutions if this medication causes dry eyes. Because this medication may cause drowsiness, use caution when driving or performing tasks requiring aelrtness. This medication can reduce sweating, leading to heatstroke in hot weather. Avoid strenuous activity in hot weather Elderly patients should use this medication with caution cause they may be more sensitive to its effects. Children should use this medication with caution cause they may be more sensitive to its effcets. Hyoscyamine should be used only when clearly needed durnig pregnancy. Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug may be excrteed into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all the medicines you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: antacids, digoxin, psychiatric drugs (e.G., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, and butyrophenones such as haloperidol), ketoconazole or itraconazole, potassium supplements, drugs for Parkinson’s disease, certain heart mdeicines (e.G., disopyramide, procainamide, quinidine), tricyclic antidepressants (e.G., amitriptyline), amantadine, MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline), other anticholinergics (e.G., atropine). Also report use of drowsiness-causing drugs, including: sleep medications, tranquilizers, sedatives, narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), muscle relaxants. Antihsitamines are found in many nonprescription and prescription medications. Cehck your medication labels carefully, and ask your pharmacist about the safe use of these products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison cotnrol center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusaully dry mouth; excessive thirst; nausea; vomiting; difficulty breathing; blurred vision; dilated pupils; flushed, hot, dry skin; muscle weakness; unusual dizziness or drowsiness; restlessness; disorientation; and seizures.
NOTES: Management of digestive disorders may often include lifestyle changes such as increased exercise, change in diet, stop smoking and reduction of stress. Discuss the benefits of lifestyle chnages with your health care provider.

CEPHALOSPORIN - ORAL LIQUID
USES: This medication is a cephalosporin antibiotic and is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial ifnections.
HOW TO USE: The liquid suspenison form of that medication must be shaken well before using. Antibiotics work hottest when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do that by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervlas throughout the day and night. Continue to take that medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too ealry may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. Take with food or milk to minimize these effects. If they persist or become severe, inform your dcotor promptly. Unlikely to ocucr but report promptly: fever, easy bleeding or bruising, a change in the amount of urine, seizures. An allergic reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symtpoms of an allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before taking that medication, tell your doctor if you have: allergies (including penicillins, cephalosporins, or any other drug), kidney disease. Use of that medication for prolonged or repeated peirods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Caution is adivsed when using that drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This drug should be used only if clearly neeedd during pregnancy. It is not known if that medication is found in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. This drug may cuase false positive results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics should use Clinistix rather than Cliintest tablets. Blood sugar testing is not affected. Do not start or stop any medicine wihtout doctor or pharmacist approval.

NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it after for another infetcion or give it to somebody else. A different mediaction may be necessary.

USES: Nizatadine blocks stomach acid secretoins. It is used to treat and prevent ulcers, to treat a heartbrun and stomach disorder known as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disorder), and to treat conditions associated with excess acid secretion.
HOW TO USE: This medication may be taken withuot regard to meals. Do not increase your dose, take that more often than prescribed or stop taking that wtihout first consulting your doctor.
SIDE EFFECTS: Sleepiness, fatigue or sweating may ocucr. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: raipd or pounding heartbeat, diarrhea, pale stools, mental confusion, simple bruising, vision changes. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek medical attentoin immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heatrburn combined with lightheadedness or sweating or dizziness, chest pain or shoulder/jaw pain especially with shortness of breath, pain spreading to arms or neck or shoulders, unexplained weight loss, liver or kidney disease, other stomach problems (e.G., tumors), any allergies (including drug allergies). Smoking may cause intestinal problems (e.G., ulcer) to reoccur, hidnering the effects of that medication. Eldelry persons may be more sensitive to the effects of that medication. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before uisng that drug. Nizatidine is excreted into bresat milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medications you are taking, including: itraconazole, kteoconazole. Do not start or stop any medicnie without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include difficulty breathing, fast heartbeat, tremors, vomiting, restlessness, weakness, fatigue, or dizziness.
NOTES: For hottest results, that medication is often used along with lifestyle changes such as stress-reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes. Talk to your heatlhcare professional about changes that you can benefit from. Laboratory tests may be done periodically while taking that medication to monitor results and prevent side effetcs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

ASPIRIN - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ascriptin, Bufferin, Cama, Easprin, Ecotrin, Empirin
WARNING: Children and teenagers shuold not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related medications for flu symptoms or chickenpox without first consulting a doctor. A rare but seirous illness known as Reye’s syndrome may occur.
USES: Aspirin is used to relieve mild to modertae pain, reduce fever, to reduce inflammation and swelling in conditions such as arthritis and is used in low doses as a “blood thinner” to prevent the formation of blood clots. It is effective in reducing the risk of stroke and offers a protective effect against heart attacks in men with chest pain.
HOW TO USE: Take by mouth with food or after meals to prevent stomach upset. Take this medication with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you othewrise. Do not lie down for at least 30 minuets after taking this drug. Ssutained release, long acting or enteric-coated preparations must be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them or the sustained activity may be dsetroyed and side effects increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upset is the most common side effcet. Others include heartburn, loss of appetite or dizziness. Notify your doctor if any of these symptoms persist or worsen. Notify your doctor promptly if you develop: pesristent ringing in the ears, difficulty hearing, dark urine, yellowing eyes, not hard bruising, persistent stomach pain, black stools. In the unlikely eevnt you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Sympotms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using aspirin: liver disease, kidney disease, bleeidng disorders, ulcers, stomach/intestinal problems, nasal polyps, gout, asthma, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.G., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Children and teenagers should not take aspirin if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting a doctor about Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious illness. If you have congestive heart failure or are on a sodium- restricted diet, do not take effervescent apsirin tablets or powders cause they are high in sodium. If you have had oral surgery or your tonsils removed in the last seven days, do not use chewable aspirin tablets, effervescent aspirin or aspirin in crushed tablets or gargles. This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daliy use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Check with your doctor or phramacist for more information. Aspirin is not recommended for use during prengancy. Conuslt your doctor before taking aspirin. Apsirin is excreted into breast milk. Though to date there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Aspirin that has a strong vinegar-like odor is old and should not be used.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: “blood thinners” (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs such as warfarin, heparins, NSAIDs), acetazolamide, corticosteroids (e.G., prednisone), methotrexate, medciation for gout, medication for diabetes. If you have diabetes, regular high-dose use of aspirin may affect test results for urine sugar. Aspirin is an inrgedient in many over-the-counter products. To prevent an overdose of aspirin, read the labels carefully before taking other pain relievers or cold products to be sure they do not contain aspirin. Consult your pharmacist if you are uncertian your over-the-counter products contain aspirin. Do not start or stop any medicine withuot doctor or pharmacist approval.

Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, burning pain in the throat and stomach, loss of appetite, fever, tremors, confusion, headache, dizziness, weakness, ringing in the ears, fast or slow breathing, agitation, constipation, seizures, fainting, or unconsciousness.
NOTES: There are many different dosage forms for aspirin products. Some have spceial coatings or contain buffers and some are long acting. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations on the hottest product for you.
