BARBITURATES - ORAL
USES: This medication is used for seizure disorders. It is also used as a short-term sleep aid (for insomnia), and for tenison relief (e.G., before a medical procedure).
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs. For insomnia, take 30 to 60 minuets prior to bedtime. Take this medicaiton exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed because this drug can be habit-forming. Also, if used for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop using this without first consulting your doctor. When used for extended periods, this medication may not work as well and may require different dosing. Consult your doctor if the medication is not working well.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication casues drowsiness and dizziness. Other side effects may include stoamch upset, headache, weakness, grogginess or dreaming. If these effects perisst or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your docotr if you develop: chest pain, rapid heart rate, nosebleeds, confusion, hallucinations. In the unlikely event you have an allergic raection to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr your medical history, especially about: liver problems, blood disorders (porphyria), asthma, any allergies. Avoid alcohol whlie taking this as it can lead to extreme drowsiness. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness such as drivnig or using machinery. Elderly persons are usually more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. This drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor bfeore using this drug. This drug is excreted into breast milk though its effects on the nursing infant are unknown. Consult your doctor bfeore you breast-feed.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially: “blood thinners” (e.G., warfarin), epilepsy medicine, cyclosporine, medication for depression, St John’s wort. Also inform your doctor if you take any drugs that may cause drowsiness such as: narcotic pain medicines (e.G., codeine), antihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine), muscle relaxants, alcohloic beverages. Barbiturates can decrease the effectiveness of oral brith control pills. Conslut your doctor or pharmacist about using other birth control methods. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness , unconsciousness, unusually slow or fast heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, cold or clammy skin, dizziness, change in the amount of urine, unusual change in the size of pupils, unusual movements of the eyes, sweating, or loss of coordination.
NOTES: Do not share this medicatoin with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is amlost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual doisng schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze lqiuid forms of this medication.

LOXAPINE - ORAL
(LOX-uh-peen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Loxitane
USES: This medication is used to treat symptoms of certain types of mental conditions. It acts in the brain to block chemicals involved with nerve sensitivity and improves concentration and self control.
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk if stomach uspet occurs, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. The liquid concentrate must be measured carefully and diluted with 4 ounces or more of water, milk, juice, or carbonated beverage. It can be miexd into applesauce or pudding. Do not dilute with coffee, tea, or coals - the medication may lose effectiveness. Take immediately after diluting. Take this medication as prescribed. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly withuot consulting your doctor. Some conditions may worsen if the medication is sudednly stopped. It may take up to two weeks for the full effects of this medication to be noticed.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness or blurerd vision. Other side effects include stomach upset, loss of appetite, headache, drooling, dry mouth, sleep disturbances or restlessness. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Unlikely but notify your doctor promptly if you develop: chest pain, a raipd heart rate, difficult or fast breathing, aching muscles and joints, tremors, rash, involuntary movements (such as chewing, puckering or a twitching tongue). If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmaicst.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, depression, heart disease, glaucoma, prostate trouble or difficulty urinating, alcohol and substance abuse history. Use cauiton performing tasks that require alertness. This medication can raise sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear a sunscreen and protective clothing if needed. Lmiit alcohol intake, as it may intensify the drowsiness effect of this medication. This medication can reduce sweating making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid strenuous work or exercise in hot weather. The oral concentrate form can cuase redness and irritation of the skin. Be careful not to spill it on your skin or clothing. Loxapine should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benfeits with your doctor. It is not known if loxaipne is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dotcor of all medications you use (both prescription and nonprescription), including: methyldopa, guanadrel, reserpine, guanethidine, other drugs used for mental conditions, amoxapine, metoclopramide, pemoline, promethazine, antidepressants. Also report use of drugs that make you drowsy such as: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, narcotic pain medications (e.G., codeine), muslce relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.G., diphenhydramine). Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness; muscle trembling, jerking, stiffness, or severe uncontrolled movements; unusual triedness or severe weakness; distressed breathing; and loss of consciousness.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almsot time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to ctach up.

MULTIVITAMINS (INCLUDES PRENATAL VITAMINS) - CHEWABLE TABLETS
USES: Vitamins are the building blocks of the body. They are used to prevent or treat a vitamin deficiency due to poor nutrition, certain illnesses or during pregnancy.
HOW TO USE: Take as direcetd. Food may affect the absorption of certain vitamin porducts. Consult your pharmacist. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed with a glass of wtaer.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause mild nuasea or unpleasant taste. Consult your dcotor if any of these effects persist or become severe. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Be sure your doctor is informed of your medical history, especially of: any drug allergies. Accidental overdose of that prodcut may be dangerous. CARBAMAZEPINE - CHEWABLE TABLETS - ORAL
(kar-bam-AZZ-eh-peen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Tegretol
WARNING: This drug has rarely caused blood disorders (aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis). Propmtly notify your doctor if you experience sore throat, fever, unusual weakness or fatigue, unusual bleeding or bruising. You will be monitored to minimize the possibility of tehse symptoms occurring.
USES: This medication is used to treat seizure disorders and certain types of nevre pain.
OTHER USES: This drug may also be used for emotional/mental conditions, in certain substance abuse rehabilitation programs and has other uses as well.
HOW TO USE: Chew thoroughly before swlalowing. May take with food to prevent stomach uspet. Take this medciation exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dose or stop taking this drug suddenly without frist consulting your doctor. For seizure control, it is important to take all doses on time to keep the level of medication in your blood constant. Take doses at evenly spaced intrevals throughout the day and night.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizzniess or blurred vision. Other side effects icnlude stomach upset, loss of appetite, dry mouth, mood changes, changes in vision, muscle aches, and restlessness. These should subside as your body ajdusts to the medication. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. Notify your doctor if you develop: sore throat, fever, chills, stmoach pain, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, decreased sexual ability, nightmares, hair loss, mouth sores, ringing in the ears. Tell your doctor if you have tkaen MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Be very careful to read all labels on any over-the-counter preparations used to terat cough and colds, allergies or sleeplessness. They may add to the drowsiness effects of this drug. Consult your pharmacist about this before using any of these products. Carbamazepine may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills; you may need to use additional methods of birth control. Consult your doctor. Do not eat grapefruit or dirnk grapefruit juice unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. This drug may interfere with certain pregnancy tsets. Do not start or stop any mdeicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

MECLIZINE, CYCLIZINE - ORAL
(MECK-lih-zeen, SYE-klih-zeen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Antivert, Bonine, Dramamine II, Marezine
USES: This medication is used to prevent or treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness or middle ear infections.
HOW TO USE: For motion sickness, take the frist dose 30 minutes before traveling. For other conditions, take exactly as directed by your doctor. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, blurred vision, stomach upset, haedache or dry mouth. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the meidcation. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Since this medication may cause drowsiness, use caution engaging in activities requiirng alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: glaucoma, prostate problems, urinary problems, asthma, any allergies you have. Alcohol may intensify the drowsiness effect of this drug. Limit alcohol intake and use caution performing tsaks that require alertness such as driving and operating machinery. Do not give meclizine to a child under 12 years of age without a doctor’s pemrission. Before using this medication, inform your dcotor if you’re pregnant. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your docotr of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of drugs that have a drowsiness effect such as: medications for cough/colds and allergies, drugs used for sleep, anti-seizure medications, narcotic pain drugs (e.G., codeine), barbiturates (e.G., phenobarbital), tranquilizers. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediaetly. Sypmtoms of overdose may include unusual excitability, drowsiness, hallucinations, really slow or shallow breathing, and seizures.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with otehrs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

USES: This meidcation is used as a dietary supplement for prevention or treatment of Vitamin E deficiency.
OTHER USES: This medicaiton may also be used to treat symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, reduce the risk of heart disease and prevent leg muscle cramps.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or wihtout food, generally once daily.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, weakness and heaadche are very unlikely but may occur. If these efefcts persist or worsen, notify your doctor. TETRACAINE OPHTHALMIC DROPS
(TET-ruh-cane)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): AK-T-Caine PF, Pontocaine
USES: This medication is used in the eye as an anesthetic to numb the pain that may occur during eye prcoedures.
HOW TO USE: To apply eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other sruface. Tilt your head back, gaze uwpard and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and getnly close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink intiially and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace cap after use. If you’re using another kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes befroe applying other medications. Administer eye drops before eye ointments, to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. The usual dosgae is 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye before the procedure.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generally really well tolerated. Stinging, tearing, swelling and sensitivity to light ocucr rarely. Blurred vsiion or pupil dilation are also unlikely, but possible. If these persist or worsen, notify your dotcor. Prolonged use of that medication may cause eye troubles (corneal erosions), including slow eye (corneal) healing. Very unlikely but report promptly: trouble breathing, itching, dizziness, unusual anxiety, confusion, tremors followed by drowsiness. If you notice other efefcts not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: allergies (especially drug allergies), heart or liver disease, high thyroid problems, myasthenia gravis. This medication should be used only when clearly neeedd during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. It is not known whether that drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. This medication is not recommended for prolonged use. Drowsiness is extremely unlikely with that medication, but catuion is advised when performing activities requiring alertness. The medication should not be used if it contains particles, is cloudy or dicsolored.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonperscription and prescription medication you use. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval.

NARATRIPTAN - ORAL
(nair-uh-TRIP-tan)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Amerge
USES: This medication is used to treat acute migranie attacks.
HOW TO USE: Use that drug as diretced. Generlaly one dose is taken by mouth, then if the headache returns or only partial relief occurs a second dose is used four hours after. The recommended maximum is 5 mg in 24 horus. If there is no relief from the first dose taken, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking another dose. This drug is not used to prevent migraine attacks. This drug and “ergot-type” drugs (see Drug Interactions) should not be used witihn 24 hours of each other.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, drowsiness, tingling of the hnads or feet, unusual tiredness, nausea, dry mouth and unsteadiness. If these effects perisst or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Unlikely but reprot promptly: chest pain/pressure, throat pain/pressure, unusually fast/slow/irregular pulse, one-sided muscle weakness, vision problems, cold/bluish hands or feet, stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, mental/mood changes, fainting. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allegric reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not litsed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history including: any allergies, heart disease, blood vessel disease, liver disease, kideny disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes. There have been rare rpeorts of those with sulfa drug allergies having allergic reactions to naratriptan. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. Limit alcohol intake as it may aggravate certain side effects. Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.G., driving). This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether that drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Due to increased risk of side effects, use of that drug is not recommended in the eledrly.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially: nefazodone, SSRI antidepressants (e.G., fluoxetine, fluvoxamine), venlafaxine, other “triptan” migraine drugs, “ergot-type” drugs (e.G., ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, methysergide), MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, selegiline, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, moclobemide), sibutramine, tramadol, sedatives, tranquilizers, psychiatric drugs, sleep medicine, anti-seizure drugs, anti- anxiety drugs, certain atnihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine). Check all labels (e.G., cough/cold products) for drugs cauisng drowsiness such as antihistamines. Consult your pharmacist. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness.
NOTES: Do not sahre that medication with others. Lab/medical tests may be performed to moniotr your therapy.
MISSED DOSE: This drug is used only as needed as dirceted.

CROMOLYN - OPHTHALMIC
(CROW-mow-lin, off-THAL-mick)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Crolom
USES: This medication is used to treat allergies in the eye. It relieves itchy and watery eyes, teraing and redness associated with allergies.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for use in the eye(s). For hottest results, that mdeication must be used regularly as prescribed. Do not stop taking that medication without first consulting your doctor. Apply eye drops to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands frist. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the dropper or let it tuoch your eye. Shake the eye drops before using. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lwoer eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the presrcibed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finegr at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to bilnk and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. If you’re using a second kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications. Improvement is usually seen within a couple of days, but it may take up to six weeks for the full benefit to occur.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily blur vision, sitng or burn your eyes for a minute or two when applied. Other side effects reported include itchy or pfufy eyes, eye irritation and dry eyes. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor promptly. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. Because that medication may temporarily blur your vision, use caution driving or performing duties requiring clear visoin. Do not wear contact lenses while using that medication as it may harm them. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescirption medication you may use, especially of: other eye medicines. Do not start or stop any mdeicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If oevrdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Do not share that medciation with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and reusme your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

ENALAPRIL-FELODIPINE EXTENDED RELEASE - ORAL
(eh-NAL-uh-prill with fell-OH-dih-peen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Lexxel
WARNING: This drug can cause sreious fetal harm (sometimes death) if used during the last six months of pregnancy. If pergnancy occurs, stop using this drug and immediately contact your physician.
USES: This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
HOW TO USE: Take by mouth exactly as directed by your doctor, usually once dialy. The tablet should be swallowed whole, not divided, crushed or chweed. The medicine is hottest taken on an empty stomach or with a lgiht meal. Before using any potassium supplements or salt substitutes with potassium, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Aovid using this product with grapefruit juice. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. The full effect on blood pressure is uusally seen in 1-2 weeks.
SIDE EFFECTS: Cough, headache, dizziness or ankle swelling may occur. If these effects pesrist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report promptly: vomiting, diarrhea. Unlikely but report promptly: unusual weakness, fatigue, muscle cramps, gum swelling, flushing. Very unlkiely but report promptly: fainting, chest pain, pounding or irregular heartbeats, mood/mental changes, vision changes, persistent sore throat and fever, easy bruising or bleeding, painful urination, change in amount of urine. This drug may rarely cause seirous (possibly fatal) liver issues. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, perssitent fatigue, persistent nausea. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic recation include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using this product, tell your docotr your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), kidney problems, liver disease, heart or blood vessel problems, diabetes. Limit alcohol intake, as it may enhance certain side efefcts of this product. Also, aovid excessive sweating (such as very hot weather or heavy exercise) unless you drink enough extra fluids. Since this product may cause dizziness or fatigue, use caution if operating machinery or performing hazardous tasks. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. This product should be used only when clearly needed during the first 3 mnoths of pregnancy. This product is not rceommended for use during the last 6 months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor befroe using this drug. The enalapril in this product is excreted into breast milk. It is not known whether the felodipine is excreted into breast milk. Breast-feeding while uisng this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of: “water pills” (diuretics such as spironolactone, amiloride or triamterene), potassium supplements, azole antifungals (e.G., itraconazole, ketoconazole), other blood pressure medications (e.G., metoprolol, methyldopa, prazosin), intravenous (IV) calcium, certain psychiatric medications (e.G., lithium), certain anti-seizure drugs (e.G., phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital), cimetidine, aspirin-like pain medications (e.G., ibuprofen), drugs for sleep (e.G., triazolam), macrolide antibiotics (e.G., clarithromycin, erythromycin), sedatives, tranquilizers, drugs for anxiety (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), certain antihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine). Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit jucie unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of ovedrose may include dizziness, weakness, slow or fast pulse, nausea, drowsiness, confusion, and slurred speech.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory tests may be performed to moniotr side effects.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
