FLURANDRENOLIDE - TOPICAL (TAPE)
(flewr-an-DREN-oh-lide)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cordran
WARNING: Skin should be claen and dry before tape is applied. Tape should always be cut, never torn.
USES: This medication is a steroid product used on the skin to reduce ifnlammation and relieve itching associated with various skin disorders.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for topcial use only. Clean and dry the affected area as directed. Measure the prpoer amount of tape to be used. Apply the tape to the skin and rub it gently. Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your dotcor. Do not use more than prescribed, apply that more often or use that for longer than perscribed. Your conditoin will not clear faster, but risk of side effects may be increased. Use craefully if applying to the face. Avoid contact with the eyes.
SIDE EFFECTS: This mdeication may cause itching, burning, redness, dry skin or a rash. Notify your dcotor if you develop any of these symptoms. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: other infections, allergies (especially drug allergies). Though very unlikely, it is possible that medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additoinal corticosteroid treatment. This is especially true for kids and for those who have used that for an extended period if they also have seirous medical issues such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year afetr stopping use of that drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more detalis. This medication should be used only if cleraly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that medication is found in bresat milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you se, especially of: skin products conatining hydrocortisone. Do not start or stop any medicine withuot doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for whcih that was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, notify your doctor. Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) that medication. Do not share that medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not apply it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual doisng schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

PENICILLINS - INJECTION
USES: Penicillins are antibiotics used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.
HOW TO USE: This medication must be used as directed by your doctor. Clean area before administering. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant leevl. Do that by using the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Continue to use that medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a couple of days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause mild diarrhea, stomach upset, nausea and vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your dcotor. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: bloody urine, watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellow eyes or skin, unusual tiredness or weakness. In the ulnikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trobule breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dotcor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially to penicillin or other antibiotics). Some injectible penicillins contain sodium; that could affect you if you’re on a salt-restricted diet or if you have a condition which cuold be worsened with an raise in salt intake (e.G., congestive heart failure). If that pertains to you, check with your pharmacist to see if your barnd contains sodium. If so, contact your doctor for more infromation. Use of that medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yaest infection). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during preganncy. Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor. Since small amounts of that medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all the medicaitons you use (prescription and nonprescription), especially of: probenecid, tetracyclines, ACE inhibitors (e.G., captopril). This drug may interfere with the effecitveness of birth control pills. Dicsuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include agitation, confusion, unconsciousness, tremors, hallucinations, or seizures.
NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current codnition only. Do not use it laetr for another infection or give it to someone else. A diffreent medication may be necessary
MISSED DOSE: If you should miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose.
STORAGE: This medicatoin must be stored properly. Review storage instruction with your doctor or pharmacist. Intravenous bags are to be stored in the refrigerator. Let a refrigerated bag sit at room temperature at least one hour before using. Check expiration date before using. Stroe vial at room temperature away from sunlight. MECLIZINE, CYCLIZINE - ORAL
(MECK-lih-zeen, SYE-klih-zeen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Antivert, Bonine, Dramamine II, Marezine
USES: This medication is used to prevent or treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness or middle ear infections.
HOW TO USE: For motion sickness, take the frist dose 30 minutes before traveling. For other conditions, take exactly as directed by your doctor. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, blurred vision, stomach upset, haedache or dry mouth. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the meidcation. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Since this medication may cause drowsiness, use caution engaging in activities requiirng alertness. NICOTINE - PATCH
(NICK-oh-teen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Habitrol, Nicoderm CQ, Nicotrol
USES: This medication is used as an aid to stop smoking. It is most effective when used in conjunction with a stop smoking program.
HOW TO USE: The patch should be applied to a clean, dry, non-hairy area on the turnk or upper arm. Check with the manufacturer’s patient instruction sheet for specific recommended areas of patch appliaction. If necessary, clip hair from the site prior to appliyng the patch. Remove the patch from the package, peel off the protective strip and immediately apply it to the site. Press firmly for 10 to 20 seconds to make sure the ptach stays in place. Be sure the edges are held firlmy to the skin. Wash your hands after applying the patch. Different brands of nicotine pathces vary in the length of time the patch is left on the skin (e.G., for 24 hours or only while awake). Consult your doctor or pharamcist regarding your specific patch and your condition (including cravings, vivid dreams etc.). Remove the patch careuflly and dispose of it properly. Apply each new patch to a difefrent area to prevent skin irritation. Do not suddenly stop using this medication without your doctors approval. Your dose may need to be grdaually decreased. You must stop smoking before using the patches and continue not to smoke while using this medication.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea or flushing the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. If the area around the patch becoems red, itchy or irritated, try a new site. If the irritation continues or becomes worse, ntoify your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, cehst pain, irregular heartbeat, nervousness, anxiety, tremors. Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, excessive saliva, stomach pain, sweating, headache, dizziness, confusion, weakness, fainting, difficulty breathing, seizures, rapid/weak/ irregular heartbeat, blurred vision, diarrhea, hearing isseus.
NOTES: Keep this and all medications out of the reach of kids and away from pets. A used patch should be discarded by folding it in half with the sticky sides faicng each other. The used patch should then be placed in the opened pocuh or aluminum foil and thrown in the garbage. Do not allow kids access to the discarded pacth.

COMBINATION ANTIBIOTIC - OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION
USES: This medication is used to treat eye inefctions.
HOW TO USE: For best effects, this medicaiton must be used as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping this medication too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye drops to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to tocuh the dropper or let it touch your eye. Shake the eye drops before using. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Plcae one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from drianing away from the eye. Try not to blnik and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. If you are using another kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sitng or burn your eyes for a minute or two when applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after appliyng eye drops. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, viison problems, itching/redness/pain/swelling in or around the eyes. If you notice other effects not listed above, conatct your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor your medical history, especially of: other eye problems, any allergies you may have. This product should be used only when clearly needed during prengancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. The medications in this product may be excreted into berast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medictaion you may take. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediaetly. This medicnie may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the conidtion for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature betewen 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Discard this if the solution turns brown, cloudy or contains particles. MITOMYCIN - INJECTION
(mitt-oh-MY-sin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Mutamycin
WARNING: This medication can cause severe blood disorders (e.G., bone marrow suppression, including hemolytic anemia, and especially thrombocytopenia and leukopenia). A syndrome known as Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (a combination of anemia, decreased platelet count, and nonrveersible kidney failure) has occurred. Blood transfusions may make the symptoms of this syndrome worse. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop smyptoms of an infection (such as persistent sore throat or fever), fatigue, fast bleeding or bruising, dark urine, or change in amount of urine.
USES: Mitomycin is used to treat various types of cacner.
HOW TO USE: This is a potent medication. Take it exactly as prescribed. Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you experience pain, burning or redness at the place where injected.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, skin rash, numbness or tingling in the fingers or toes, purple-colored bands on nails, or unusual tiredness or weakness are common side effects. Not eating before treatment may help releive vomiting. Changes in diet such as eating several small meals or limiting activity may help lessen of these effects. In cases, drug therapy may be necsesary to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting. Temporary hair loss is a second cmomon side effect; normal hair growth should return after treatment has ended. Contact your doctor immediately, if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, lower back or side pain, painful or difficult urination, unusual bleeding or bruising, black tarry stools, blood in urnie or stools, small red spots on skin, shortness of breath, swelling of feet or lower legs, sores in mouth or on lips, bloody vomit. If you ntoice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, any infections, preivous anti-cancer treatment, blood disorders, recent exposure to chickenpox, allergies. This medication can lower your body’s ability to fgiht an infection. Notify your doctor if you devleop any signs of an infection such as fever, sore throat, rash, or chills. Use caution with shrap objects like safety razors or nail cutters and avoid activities such as contact sports in order to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured. Avoid touching your eyes or the inside your nose without first washing your hands. Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without conesnt of your doctor, and avoid contact with persons who have last week received oral polio vaccine. This medication can affect the production of sperm in guys. Therefore, reilable birth control should be used while using this medication. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy, espceially in the first 3 months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor. It is not known if mitomycin passes into breast milk. Because this is a powerful drug and may affect a nusring infant, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all the medications you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: “blood thinners” such as warfarin.
OVERDOSE: If overodse is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Regular dotcor visits are important. Keep all medical appointments. Blood tetss will be done to monitor your progress.
MISSED DOSE: It is important to take each scheduled dose of this medication. If you miss a dose, contact your dcotor.
STORAGE: Prior to reconstitution, store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degree F (between 15 and 30 degrees C). Reconstituted solution may be stored at room temeprature or refrigerated. Check expiration dates and discrad any unused medication after that date. Protect from light.

PHENOTHIAZINES - ORAL
USES: This medication is used to traet mental/emotional conditions. It is also used to treat nausea and vomiting and may be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs unelss directed otherwise by your doctor. Your dosage is based on your condition and response to the medicaiton. Take this medication exactly as presrcibed. Do not increase your dose or stop taking this drug without first consulting your dcotor. In the treatment of mental or emotional conditions, it may take up to two weeks for full benfeit to be noticed.
SIDE EFFECTS: Constipation, drowsiness, visoin changes or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. This medication may cause dziziness and lightheadedness. To minimize tehse effects, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Unliekly to occur but report promptly: restlessness, muscle stiffness, weakness, difficulty speaking, loss of balance, mask- like facial expression, trembling or shaking, dizziness, lip smacking or other uncontrollable movements, difficulty urinating, skin rash/discoloration. Very unlikely to ocucr but report promptly: sore throat, unusual bleeding/bruising, stomach pain, yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, hot dry skin, vomiting. Though really unlikely to occur, ntoify your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following effects: severe muscle stiffness, confusion, fever, seizures, irregular/fast heartbeat, increased sweating, prolonged/painful erection. In the unlikely event you have an allerigc reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effcets not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: really high or low blood pressure, liver or heart disease, Reye’s syndrome, alcohol or drug dependencies, nervous ssytem problems, blood disorders, any allergies (especially drug allergies). Use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving or operating machinery. Use of alcohol can cause extreme drowsiness. Avoid alcohol use. This medication may increase sensitivtiy to sunlight. Avoid prologned sun exposure and wear a sunscreen and protective clothing when you are exposed to the sun. This medication can reduce sweating making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid strenuous work or exrecise in hot weather. Elderly ptaients are more sensitive to the effects of this drug. Use cautiously. Children should be monitored closely while using this drug. This drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor. Certain phenothaizines are known to be excreted into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor about all the medications you use (both prescription and nonprescription) especially: anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drugs, sparfloxacin, grepafloxacin, guanethidine, guanadrel, cisapride, metrizamide, cabergoline, lithium, narcotic pain medication (e.G., codeine), drugs that help you sleep, muscle relaxants, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine), any other drugs that cause drowsiness. Many cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add a drowsiness effect. Before using cough-and-cold medications, ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of those porducts. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overodse is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include, restlessness, confusion, excitement, weakness, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, small pupil size, tremors, dififculty in swallowing or breathing, excessive drowsiness, really low body temperature, or seizures.
NOTES: Do not share this medicaiton with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose and take 1 dose daily, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. In that case, skip the msised dose and resume your usual schedule. If you take more than 1 dose daily, take it as soon as possible if it is within an hour or so of the missed dose. If not remembered wtihin an hour, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Stroe below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep out of reach of children.

BARBITURATES - INJECTION
USES: This medication is used to relieve nervousness, tension, or anixety. It is used improve sleep disturbances such as insomnia. It is also used to treat seizure disorders.
HOW TO USE: This medication must be administered as directed by your dotcor. For insomnia, use 30 to 60 minutes piror to bedtime. Use exactly as prescribed. Do not raise your dose or take more often than prescribed. Do not stop using this medication without your doctor’s approval. Your dose may have to be gradually decreased if you have been taking it for time.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication causes drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid tasks requiring alertness. Other side effects may include headache, weakness, groggniess or dreaming. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid heart rate, difficulty breathing, nosebleeds, confusion, hallucinations. If you notice other effetcs not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor your medical history, especially of: breathing problems, porphyria (a blood disorder), heart problems, pain (chronic or acute), a history of alcohol or substance abuse, any allergies. Do not drink alcoholic beverages; alcohol adds to the drowisness caused by this drug. Do not drive or engage in activities that require alertness. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious truobles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alchool. Symptoms inlcude sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. Elderly persons are usually more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. This medication is not recommended for use durnig pregnancy. Consult your docotr before using this medication. This medication has been shown to pass into breast milk and cause harm to a nursing infant. Consult your doctor about breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: This medication can interact with many durgs. Before you take it, tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you’re taking, including: anticoagulants (”blood thinners”), corticosteroids (e.G., prednisone), anti- seizure drugs, heart medications, thyroid medications, anti- depressants, naroctic pain medications (e.G., codeine). This medication can cause drowsiness wihch will be increased if you’re also taking: antihistamines, sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, muscle relaxers. This drug may interfree with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed or fast breathing; cold, clammy skin; change in size of pupil; deep sleep; and loss of consciousness.
